Sparking Design is owned by the dynamic team, Chris Sparks and Jamie King. Chris and Jamie met in class and decided to combine design forces. (This goes for our business name too – did you notice?) Learn more about us below.
Chris Sparks
I’ve loved art, particularly comics, from a young age. I learned to read from Carl Barks’ Uncle Scrooge stories and to appreciate an artist’s ability to tell a story or convey meaning through panel layouts. At one time, I owned and operated my own comic shop, and I continue to read and study comics and collect original comic art. I have owned or worked for small businesses all my life. I take pride in getting to know my customers and their preferences and going beyond their expectations. I’m thrilled that Sparking Design enables me to combine my love for design and building customer relationships.
Jamie King
Design has been my passion for as long as I can remember; my bedroom growing up was a veritable art supply store. You would be hard-pressed to find an artistic medium or craft that I have not tried. My artistic voice was honed in traditional art classes at the University of North Florida, where I earned a BFA in Painting and Drawing. Soon after, I traded my paintbrushes for a computer mouse, completing a Digital Media degree from AB Tech in Asheville.
It has always been important to me to be a well-rounded designer. My diverse experience has taught me that small details make a huge difference, but never at the expense of losing sight of the big picture. Being a designer for Sparking Design allows me to fulfill my goals of creating inspiring, innovative design. Nothing pleases me more than a client who is happy with my work and is proud to show it off.
